Shastri Yoga - Writings

The Bhagavad-Gita says “While the world is asleep, the yogi stays awake.”  Meaning not literally “awake” but rather aware, focused, not under the influence of illusion.

When you come from that light of attention you are then making choices from the objective, otherwise, you are bound and trapped by your emotion.  To be objective you must be able to give attention w/out identifying with the object (of attention) itself.  The only way to cultivate this is in the practice of meditation.

To meditate is to be attentive.  To be in a dynamic state of attention is to be meditating.  One who can maintain that dynamic state of attention is a Yogi.  One who does not “sleeps” through life.  Yoga, therefore, is the practice (i.e., discipline, discipleship, pathway of manifestation) of developing this attention.
